Tables with warming extend terrace season at Pier 4 Hotel in Helsinki

Halia® warming enhances terrace experience in a maritime environment

The new Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 at Katajanokka waterfront in Helsinki Finland, offers a warm, sustainable alternative to traditional luxury. The hotel's wooden architecture and maritime environment create a unique experience. The rooftop terrace, Rooftop Bar Humu, is one of the hotel's sources of pride. It offers a breathtaking 360-degree view to downtown Helsinki, South Harbor, and the sea. By choosing Quatro heating tables, the hotel’s restaurant manager wanted to ensure that the terrace stays comfortable and that customers could enjoy their experience during the cool days of early and late summer, and with the dynamic weather changes of the harbor.

Pier 4 ordered 8 of the novel heated tables from the Finnish start-up The Warming Surfaces Company and in the hotel's brand colors. The tables equipped with Halia® warming bring comfort and are easy to use: they only require a low power electrical connection.

“Customer comfort is of paramount importance to us. Our location by the sea is wonderful, but the sea breeze can be cool in early summer. Nonetheless, our guests are eager to start the terrace season as early as May, and with the Quatro tables we wanted to offer them the best possible customer experience. The solution turned out to be excellent, because with this innovation we were able to keep customers warm and comfortable on our terrace even on the chilly days of early summer, and we hope that the season will continue well into September,” comments Jarkko Myllymäki, Restaurant Manager, Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4.

The heating system located on the underside of the table top is activated when someone sits down at the table. This keeps customers warm in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly way. The solution is also significantly more ecological than traditional gas heaters, the use of which is being restricted across Europe.
