​Halia® warming in tables is more sustainable and more comfortable, which is proven in the first pilots to increase customer comfort and restaurant sales. Halia warming is activated only when a person is sitting at the table. The feeling of warmth is achieved in tens of seconds. The warming automatically switches off when leaving the table.

Why tables?

In 2021, France banned outdoor heaters at cafés and restaurants, with artificial heating on terraces prohibited as of March 2022. This decision was driven by the significant CO2 emissions from outdoor heaters, equivalent to those of 300,000 cars annually.

Prior to the ban, almost 40% of all restaurant meals served in France were served outdoors. The impacts of the ban on restaurant sales is still unclear, but many restaurants have adapted to the ban by enclosing their terraces and providing blankert, tying up significant material resources.

Terrace season is now shorter and reportedly less comfortable. Terrace heaters and heating of air – especially in open spaces – is extremely inefficient and polluting. Also strong heat aimed at the head while rest of the body is cold, is uncomfortable for many people. But keeping customers comfortable and healthy in outdoor dining is critical for the success of restaurants, bars and cafés.
